KillerHeels

Aidan: Don't take this the wrong way, but this place could use a little work.
Carrie: I know but I can't afford it.
Aidan: You've got eighty thousand bucks worth of shoes over there.
Carrie: I needed those!
"Sex and the City"

Let's be honest! First thing you do when you roll out of bed is check your blackberry, Iphone, or razor (yes, people are still using them). And isn't it the best feeling in the world when you have a text from one of your favorite people in Los Angeles...Jason, the shoe guy from Barney's!! Every girl needs a Jason in her life. He's good looking, funny, an awesome friend and he works in the designer shoe section at Barney's (all the qualities necessary for a platonic relationship with someone of the opposite sex). He keeps me updated on all the new and sexy Christian Louboutin's that come in the store. He is the epitome of "a girls best friend", he knows what I like, we never fight (except if he sells a size 6 of a killer pair of heels that I wanted to Demi Moore) and when I go see him we have lunch at my favorite spot, Yu n Mi Sushi.
It was love at first sight when I first saw the Greissimo in Minthe. The way the color popped against my olive skin, the dipped vamp, the covered platform, the supplest suede, the 5 inch heel...I had to make them mine. Just walking around the store, I knew we were a perfect fit. Our love affair was short lived when I realized they were $895. I had encountered love like this before and I knew breaking away wasn't going to be easy.
Since my credit cards had been getting out of hand, I enlisted my girlfriend Jamie to come along and talk me out of any major purchases. Unfortunately for me and my new love, Greissimo, she was very good at making me feel guilty. I thought to myself, why didn't I go shopping alone, or what if I just drop her off and go back to the store and get them. She doesn't even have to know about it. I could wear them when I'm out of town and not explain myself to her, or I could conveniently only wear them when she wasn't going to be around. I knew they were bad for me, but I couldn't stop thinking about them. I'd wake up in cold sweats at night, searching my apartment, like something was missing, realizing 30 minutes later that I was looking for my Greissimo's I never purchased, the ones that I let get away, the ones that just because I knew they were bad for me, didn't mean that I shouldn't give them a chance. So finally justifying the purchase (it was going to be my birthday present to myself) I was off to Beverly Hills to finally experience what I had been wanting and waiting and dreaming of for a month, only to be crushed with the fact that while I was out to lunch with Jason, the size 6 had been sold to someone else.

  2. See, you can NOT show me these shoes because they end up haunting my every thought. I have NO self control at all. I love how you tried to con Jamie out of knowing you wanted those shoes. Too funny!

  3. I saw them at Barneys in Beverly Hills, and thought of you. Immediately after I was completely distracted by the $1,890.00 price tag of the shoe I had in my hand. Ouch.

  5. I think it's great to treat yourself and pay yourself first, but... do so according your to your budget. Two many times we pay for things we can't afford "to keep up with the jones'" and end up broke or feeling really guilty about it! So my solution is to convince a mad man to buy them for you as a gift! That way no stress and and u are dressed to impress. lol easier said than done. Don't u miss the days when stores had lay-away and u could take 3 months to pay!!! ahhh..... if not, das just me. Anywayz good luck and great shoe shopping!

  8. Catching up with my DVR and thought you'ld be interested to know that Jill Zarin, from the Real Housewives of New York, wore the same green Christian Louboutin killer heels you wrote about on the reunion show...
Since I don't like that tramp on the show, I was looking for any reason to hate her, so when she lifted her foot you could see the bottom was either very scuffed or she stepped on toilet paper.
    Just an obervation...
    :)
